Zhang Zhe (Zev) is an interdisciplinary design innovator, engineer, and artist. He specializes in industrial design and human-computer interaction, with a focus on textile and 3D printing. His current research explores the human factor in flexible inflatable structures and robotic art.

Zhang Zhe achieved his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in China (2024) and is currently pursuing an MA/MSc in Innovation Design Engineering at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London (2024 - 2026). He is also a professional freediver and designs mermaid costumes and 3D-printed wearables in his personal brand, Mermaid Party.

Zhe's design philosophy is to empower not only humans but also non-living entities such as robots through interactive and perceptible materials and structures. His understanding of these forms is derived from everyday observations and refined by his aesthetic sensibilities. He believes that interactive design is a sensory dialog that fosters meaningful engagement. Moreover, he is deeply committed to creating designs with genuine impact—tackling real societal challenges by embracing interdisciplinary interactions as a fresh perspective for addressing major issues and inspiring unconventional solutions.
